Thanks to a smart safety feature onboard a New York City subway train, passengers riding the G line (the Job of the MTA transit system) were saved from a speeding death yesterday when their captain suffered a heart attack and died at the helm. Domenick Occhiogrosso, 50, pulled the train out of the Court Square terminal in Queens around 8 a.m., then collapsed onto the floor, releasing a "death switch" that halted the vehicle in its tracks. Much like how stop cords function on treadmills, the train's death switch engaged when it sensed there was no longer any pressure being applied to the controls. So, for those of you who make your daily commute on the failing G line, we should be thankful one thing runs as it should. [NY Post
