gwar GWAR Frontman Kicked Off Fox News for Disemboweling Sarah Palin

Late last year, GWAR kicked up the ire of the conservative blogosphere by disemboweling an effigy of Sarah Palin onstage. After that happened, front-creature Oderus Urungus stopped receiving calls to appear on the late night Fox News talk show “Red Eye,” which is hosted by former Maxim UK editor Greg Gutfeld. No one ever notified Urungus that his position as “intergalactic correspondent” had been terminated, but he learned the real reason they never called him back through a conversation with Gutfield.

Of course, the group has been decapitating and disemboweling celebrities and political figures onstage for decades, regardless of party affiliation. Sarah Palin is merely one in a long line of personalities that have been destroyed during GWAR’s notoriously graphic live shows. But the backlash came from the same group of people who tried to rewrite Wikipedia to fit what their moose-shooting overlord said, so the epic freak-out should come as no surprise. Interestingly, Urungus’ revelation of why he was fired came the same day that the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a man’s online threat to kill Obama in 2008 was protected as free speech.

Urungus had been appearing on “Red Eye” periodically since 2009 and talking about various issues from hallucinogenic drugs to Obama cutting the NASA budget. He’s been joking around on Twitter for the past couple of days, urging fans to call for him to get his own show. It won’t be on Fox, but maybe it’s best he stay off that sinking ship anyway. Check out the videos below to see the offending Palin-slaughter as well as Urungus’ very first appearance on “Red Eye.”
