Robert Vietze isn’t your typical 18-year-old. He attends the Green Mountain Valley School in Vermont, a world-class skiing academy for high school students with Olympic aspirations and the talent to go along with it. Vietze was set to become the latest in a long line of GMVS alumni to represent the red white and blue. He was considered one of the top alpine skiers in the United States, and a member of the prestigious US Developmental team. He had the world in the palm of his hand, until yesterday, when he picked the worst moment to act like a typical 18-year-old.
We all remember jumping at any opportunity to get drunk, whether that meant asking an older brother to buy a case of beer or stealing a bottle of vodka from our parents’ liquor cabinet. Vietze noticed that the flight attendants on Jet Blue were not carding for alcohol and jumped at the chance to get drunk on his cross-country flight from Oregon to JFK.
The young skiing prodigy downed eight alcoholic drinks on the flight, and as anyone who has ever drunk on a plane before knows the altitude causes the alcohol to take effect much faster. This was certainly the case for the inexperienced Vietze.
After the booze pumped through his system he understandably needed to use the facilities. Unfortunately he never made it all the way to lavatory—however, that didn’t stop him from from whipping his dick out and relieving himself all over the leg of a sleeping 11-year-old girl.
The girl’s father quickly, and understandably wanted to send Vietze out the cabin door, and tossed multiple f-bombs his way until the flight attendants restrained him. The ruckus caused another passenger to vomit and ended with Vietze being arrested in New York for indecent exposure.
Vietze claims that he didn’t micturate on purpose and because of the alcohol he didn’t even remember his actions. According to the the GMVS website Vietze organized a fundraising effort to support the Livestrong Foundation. Meaning this could simply be a momentary lapse in judgement, albeit with very serious repercussions.
Today, Vietze was thrown off the Olympic squad. Hopefully he’s learned his lesson: adults don’t like it when you blame it on the alcohol.
