I enjoy Aphex Twin as much as the next person, but video of new material suggests that Richard D. James just might be out of fresh ideas. Clocking in at over 6 minutes, the new song sounds like any ambient, techno-y track you might hear at a Brooklyn loft party. A representative for Aphex Twin said that his shows are "full of unreleased tracks," but there is no word about whether or not this particular song will be featured on any upcoming release. The video, which was recorded at Aphex Twin's show at Metz, France's Centre Pompidou on May 15, has the clearest audio I've ever heard from an amateur live recording, but it's a shame there isn't much to listen to. Sounds a bit like the “Analord” material to me. I found most of that stuff quite boring and self-indulgent.
My favourite Aphex stuff is probably Ambient Works Volume 1 or the more tuneful stuff like IZ-US, Cordialatron and Analogue Bubblebath 1.
He produces some great music, but also puts out a load of rubbish as well. I think he needs to start making some higher quality tunes to recover his reputation.

If I had to guess based off of this I would say his new album is going to incorporate all of his style; the ambient, his signature glitch style, AFX analog synth, and following that trend we could hope for some more Drukqs style acoustic stuff thrown in there as well.
