Surprise, surprise, according to the National Enquirer, a young Sarah Palin was totally down for one-night stands with future NBA all-stars.
Back in 1987, Sarah Palin was just a lowly Alaskan sports reporter without an ounce of journalistic integrity. Her hair was big enough to reach the Aurora Borealis, and her political aspirations were obviously non-existent.
Back then she was simply another reporter covering The Great Alaskan Shootout, which for a long time was considered one of the top three preseason NCAA basketball tournaments, along with the Maui Invitational and the Preseason NIT in New York.
Teams from all over the country would flock to Anchorage to face some of the toughest teams in the country. Preseason tournaments help serve as an early indicator of which teams could contend for a title.
As it turns out, the future governor went above and beyond the call of duty during her “coverage” of the event. According to the National Enquirer, a news source which was a Pulitzer contender last year, Palin conducted a one-on-one interview with then Michigan star Glen Rice. It was most likely done off the record.
In the book, which will be published on September 20th, McGinniss claims Sarah had a steamy interracial hookup with basketball stud Glen Rice less than a year before she eloped with her husband Todd.
Sarah hooked up with the NBA great, then a 6-foot-8 junior at the University of Michigan when he was playing in a college basketball tournament in Alaska in 1987, the book says. At the time, Sarah, just out of college, was working as a sports reporter for the Anchorage TV station KTUU.
A publishing source told The ENQUIRER that McGinniss claims Sarah had a “fetish” for black men at the time and he quotes a friend as saying Sarah had “hauled (Rice’s) ass down.”

In the book, McGinniss quotes Rice as confirming the one-night stand.
This story is incredible, because it’s too outlandishly random to not be true. No one goes around claiming to have had sex with Glen Rice. No offense to Rice, who was a three-time NBA all-star and an all-American at Michigan, but he hasn’t been in the news since he beat his ex-wife four years ago. He also has absolutely no reason to lie about such a thing. In fact, he probably thinks it’s pretty damn funny.
If confirmed this could have major repercussions on whatever political aspirations Palin still has for 2012. Though this is relatively a non-scandal that took place 25 years ago before Palin was married, her fans are as far right as the conservative party gets — meaning they’re lunatics. I’m curious to see how some of her race-sensitive (translation: racist) fans react to allegations of her post-collegiate “fetish” for black men. If she was in the GOP race right now, she’d have a mutiny on her hands.
As of right now, this is merely an example of Palin’s blatant disregard of journalistic integrity, nothing more. However, one can speculate if the 22-year-old didn’t care enough to be an ethical journalist, why would she care enough to be an ethical politician?
