French Touch extraordinaire Alan Braxe returns with an awesome, stuttering remix of Ford & Lopatin’s “Too Much MIDI (Please Forgive Me)” and shows all the would-be current producers how it’s done.
One of this author’s favorite dance tracks of all time is Alan Braxe & Fred Falke’s “Intro,” released in the halycon days of French Touch (French House) before it was bastardized by a thousand American bedroom DJs ’round about two years ago from Williamsburg to Silverlake and Echo Park in Los Angeles.
Braxe came up with Daft Punk, Cassius, Dimitri From Paris (who masterfully remixed Henry Mancini’s “Lujon”) and Modjo. His first release “Vertigo” came out on Thomas Bangalter’s label Roulé in 1997.
Since then he’s had steady remix work—both solo and with Fred Falke—for artists such as Röyksopp, Visitor, Goldfrapp, Death From Above 1979, Jamiroquai, Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Britney Spears and Justice, to name just a few.
Braxe’s remix of Ford & Lopatin’s “Too Much MIDI (Please Forgive Me)” continues his stellar but quite under-appreciated work.
“Too Much Midi (Please Forgive Me) the Alan Braxe Remixes” is out October 17th on Mexican Summer/Cooperative Music.
Have a listen below and check out Alan Braxe & Fred Falke’s “Intro” and “Chrystal City” as well. There’s also an Alan Braxe remix and original track sampler below via his Myspace page.
