Watch William Shatner Lay Down Vocals For ‘Iron Man’

William Shatner is Iron Man.

A few days ago YouTube user WilliamShatner posted footage of William Shatner laying down vocals for his cover of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” off his long-awaited upcoming metal album, “Seeking Major Tom” from Cleopatra Records.

It would be a little awkward watching anyone belt out a low, death metal scream in a quiet room, let alone clean-cut, 80-year-old Captain Kirk, but this short clip of The Shat singing “Iron Man” red-faced is kind of awesome to watch and makes us look forward to October 11th, the date when “Seeking Major Tom” releases and begins competing with Lou Reed’s Metallica collaboration as the most eccentric metal record of 2011.

The clip of the song as it appears at the end of the video sounds a little awkward, but the final cut of “Iron Man” hit the internet earlier in September. Listen to it below the video.

You can preorder “Seeking Major Tom” at Amazon.com.
