The one time recluse plays an 8 song set on the streets in Liberty Park.

Jeff Mangum surprised a crowd of protesters camped out at Occupy Wall Street Tuesday night with a vigorous acoustic set of Neutral Milk Hotel favorites.

It’s strange and truly electrifying to see a man who willingly chose seclusion for so many years playing so spiritedly, urging fans to sing along and even taking requests. Clearly moved by the cause, Mangum said to the crowd, “You guys have done a beautiful fucking thing” at the conclusion of his set. Watch the stream of the performance below.
