“Amy, My Daughter” to be publshed next summer.
HarperCollins have announced that Mitch Winehouse, Amy Winehouse‘s father will be penning his daughter’s biography. “Amy, My Daughter” will detail Amy’s beginnings through the start of her career and years of substance abuse.
While this will certainly not be the last book on Amy Winehouse, who died in London last July, it seems a bit unfortunate that her own father take on the task of detailing her story. For starters, it’s a painful task for any parent to relive the horrors of their drug addicted child, but what’s also unfortunate is the idea that the perspective may have a filtered personal bias, as it would be in the interest of any father to protect the integrity of their daughter, living or dead.
Mitch Winehouse states “I feel that I need to write this book to tell the true story of Amy and to help with my personal recovery.” The story of her life may be interesting from her father’s perspective, but her story might best be told by former husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, who witnessed a great deal of Winehouse’s turmoil first hand, most particularly an incident where she nearly died in his arms.
“Amy, My Daughter” is projected to be released sometime in the summer of 2012.
