This video shows Kanye West and Russell Simmons at Occupy Wall Street. One of them doesn’t seem too enthused.
As previously reported, Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons and Kanye West took to the streets yesterday to show their support for Occupy Wall Street. While Simmons had already been vocal on the subject, it was surprising to see West there, who at this point had not publicly expressed any opinion on the movement.
Watching this clip below, it seems as if Uncle Rush was pulling Kanye in by the ear. Simmons spoke on West’s behalf while he stood mute with a scowl on his face. “Kanye has been a big supporter spiritually for this movement and he’s just here to stand with the people,” said Simmons who then explained that Kanye didn’t want to do any press on the matter. You can see him nod ever so slightly in agreement with Simmons’ words, but the impromptu interview remains incredibly awkward as if Kanye really needed to go occupy somewhere else.

You’re talking about this first album ‘College Dropout’ where he was just that. THAT Kanye was a man of the people, THAT Kanye cared. Kanye sold his soul a long time ago and is just a corporate puppet like so many of the popular ‘artists’ out there.
It’s really sad to see how different he was back then. I encourage anyone to listen to that album, probably one of the best hiphop albums of all-time.

Maybe he’s so fired up he’s about to explode VMA style and he’s trying to keep it all in.

Most likely Kayne was dragged there against his will to improve his public perception and “Uncle Russ” told him to keep his mouth shut so he wouldn’t make the both of them look stupid.

My guess is Kanye thought it would be prudent not to open his mouth and blind those standing near to him with his grille. I’m not a hater – I really think he’d be smart enough to consider that.

Could be the fact that he arrived to a protest against greed wearing Givenchy and was probably pondering his choice, thinking that he should have gone for a more ‘lower class’ look, no?

Kayne doesn’t care about the masses. He is a corporate artist…typically means they only care about money. Not only that, but the man is a damned moronic fool. Talib Kweli was there. Showing and vocalizing his support..why not kayne? oh, cause he’s a tool for the corporations.

ROFL that clip was hilarious. You’ve got this guy saying “Kanye thinks this, and Kanye feels that”, while Kanye is standing RIGHT THERE were he could say whatever he wants. But what is Kanye doing? Meanwhile, Kanye looks excruciatingly bored, and ready to bolt at any second.
If they were going for comedy, they succeeded.
