“Gish” and “Siamese Dream” box sets are set for release next month.
This is bound to be a great Christmas for Smashing Pumpkins fans. After years of alluding to it, Billy Corgan will finally be releasing the first in several reissues of the band’s back catalog which will extend well into 2013.
The first two Smashing Pumpkins albums, “Gish” and “Siamese Dream,” will both see three-disc special edition reissues on November 29th. Aside from a remaster of both albums, a second disc will be featured on both containing various rarities pertaining to their respective time periods, most of which have been previously unreleased.
Both will also feature DVDs of shows played at the Metro in Chicago in 1990 and 1993 respectively, as well as postcards of band photos and extensive liner notes. Among the text will be a track by track breakdown by Bill Corgan himself, which may or may not set the record straight on how much James Iha and D’Arcy played on “Siamese Dream.” Both albums will also be made available in single disc versions, in case you somehow don’t have them already.
Full details are available over at the Smashing Pumpkins’ website along with a message from Corgan. Here’s the video for the band’s first single off “Gish,” “Siva.”
