Full length album will be forthcoming.
It’s time to dust off your copy of “So Tonight That I Might See” because Mazzy Star are back. Hope Sandoval and David Roback are currently working on the followup to “Among My Swan,” which will be out in early to mid 2012.
16 years between records is a long time, but after listening to “Lay Myself Down,” the b-side to their new single, it sounds as if no time has passed at all. Sandoval’s voice is as haunting as ever while Roback’s guitar work still has that shimmering dream-like lilt.
Hope Sandoval collaborators the Jesus and Mary Chain also said something a ways back about putting out a new record. With any luck maybe we can get these both going at the same time and relive 1994 all over again.
The single’s A-side, “Common Burn,” can currently be previewed over at Amazon, but you can hear “Lay Myself Down” in full at Pitchfork. The single gets its official release October 24th.
