Watch EMA Perform for French Take Away Show

The noise rocker strips down three songs to their essence for the French website La Blogothèque

Erika M. Anderson’s debut album as EMA, “Past Life Martyred Saints,” is a pretty noisy affair for the most part. For some, it might be difficult to hear through the fog. Songs like “California” and “Marked” are lush and dreamy but are still pretty decked out in web of ambiance. The nature of her debut album is what makes this edition of the Take Away Show on the French website, La Blogothèque an interesting view.

Hearing her songs in such a pure state, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar and violin, one can really hear how truly great they are. “Marked” is probably the best out of the bunch which was performed outside of a cafe, but the location for “Anteroom,” in the recesses of a crypt, is predictably haunting given that and its minmal setup.
