Slash’s Arcade Rocker is a mix of shameless self-promotion and Guitar Hero. Essentially, the app is the same as the console game Slash used to be the face of. You can play three different tracks (“By The Sword”, “Watch This” and “Doctor Alibi”) from his new album, as well as any others you may have on your iPhone or iPod Touch. And for all the true Slash fans out there, you get breaking news, tour dates and blog posts along with the game. It’s not clear whether he’ll write the posts himself, but after reading segments of his 2007 autobiography, I really hope that he does.
If you look at the screen shots of the game however, it’s pretty clear that the game is just an inversion of Guitar Hero. The game play looks the same and the entire idea behind it is the same. I guess the only advantage Slash has, are the extra features and the fact that people will buy things just because a celebrity’s name is slapped on it.
