I Would Never Do This To My Dog But…

Is that a tiger in your back yard? No, it’s just my golden retriever.

The Today Show recently featured what they called “pimped-out poodles,” or, rather, perfectly normal dogs covered in extravagant dye jobs. These types of groomers and pet owners are followed in a new TLC show called “Extreme Poodles.” Not only are some dogs dyed and cut to look like other animals, but they are actually used as full on canvases. One dog proudly (?) sported the manhattan skyline on it’s coat. The dogs usually go in for multiple two hour sessions before the artwork is complete.

The pet owners claimed to The Today Show that the dogs would not let them do it if they didn’t like it. One owner even said “They enjoy having it done because they know the attention [will come].” The owners claimed that they do not do the job for profit because after the cost for grooming and travel the show only pays for itself. Considering the prices people are paying for their fashionista dogs, only time will tell if these dye jobs hit the streets.
