Check out Radiation City’s single “Babies” plus a remix from Portland’s PoPoPePe.
Amidst subtle fingers snaps, hand claps and a soft heartbeat bass drum comes the voice of Radiation City‘s Lizzy Ellison. Joined with Cameron Spies’s instrumentation, “Babies” evolves from something delicate to a more propulsive, vaguely ’60s experimental pop song, approximating the shades of Broadcast.
The PoPoPePe remix is stuttery and slow going out of the gates, but becomes gathers momentum as it progresses. At 2:23 the remix achieves its desired result before shifting into a beautiful string and synthesizer coda.
Radiation City are about to embark on a west coast tour and have scheduled a Portland show on New Year’s Eve, in which they’ll be covering OutKast’s “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” LP in it’s entirety.
