Keep Shelly in Athens is one of those bands you can sense everyone is going to start talking about within the next year. The Weeknd, The xx—some bands just have it. You can just tell.
Fittingly, KSiA’s new track “Struggle With Yourself,” from a new vinyl EP “Campus Martius” out today, comes off sounding something like the product of a late night coke-and booze fueled hook-up between The xx and The Weeknd. It’s dark and moody, bass-heavy and seductive, but also ethereal and feminine.
Keep Shelly in Athens keeps a notoriously low profile. But after raising considerable buzz with advance tracks and this year’s EP, if they’re able to keep cranking out material as strong as “Struggle With Yourself,” they should be one of the most talked-about bands of 2012.
