20 photos of an animated Obama

Feb 10, 2012

Political opinion aside, most people can agree that Barack Obama, as our first black president, has had an indelible impact on popular culture, appearing in numerous cartoons, comics and illustrated magazine covers. Even before he was president, Obama appeared as a U.S. Senator in the independent comic book “Licensable BearTM.”

Since taking the national stage, Obama has since stood side-by-side with heroes like Spiderman, Savage Dragon, who actually endorsed Obama, and the Image Comics team Youngblood. He has also been featured, either as a character or simple picture, in almost all of Fox’s animated series, including “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy” and “The Cleveland Show,” and even gets the cartoon treatment in a piece of Manga erotica, though I chose not to highlight that particular piece.

Here, for your Friday enjoyment, are 20 pictures of an animated Obama. It’s not an exhaustive collection, but definitely proves how far ingrained Obama has become in cartoon culture.

Which is your favorite? Mine is and will always be that infamous New Yorker cover of Barack and Michele Obama bumping fists in the Oval Office. Either that or “Barack the Barbarian,” featuring “Red Sarah” Palin.
