Mos Def may have changed his name to Yasiin Bey (that shit cray!) but the voice is as both authoritative and fresh as it has ever sounded. He’s created a very different take on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s ubiquitous “Niggas In Paris” track and retitled it as “Niggas In Poorest.”
“What’s $50,000 to a nigga like me / more than my annual salary” is the standout line, along with the song-ending “Allah is in control.” That last part sounds pretty ominous coming from the same dude that was in Be Kind Rewind, don’tcha think? We miss yr MF Doom track, mang.
