Everything you need to know about ‘Spring Breakers,’ the new James Franco movie directed by Harmony Korine

Harmony Korine is an extremely independent filmmaker; the kind of director who revels in the artistic side of a project far more than the commercial side. His movies are sometimes cultural milestones. Korine penned the script for the controversial Larry Clark opus “Kids,” and Harmony’s directorial debut “Gummo” is a near modern classic. And then there’s “Trash Humpers”:

Ah, yes. “Trash Humpers.” That ol’ chestnut.

So Korine’s next movie stars James Franco as a rapper who bails some girls out of jail and, I’m assuming, there are hijinks afterwards. Justin Bieber’s girlfriend Selena Gomez is also in the movie. So it has that going for it. Just so we’re clear, this is the same guy who did “Trash Humpers” working with Selena fucking Gomez. Oh, and Vanessa Hudgens. And rapper Gucci Mane also has a part in the movie. Yeah. There’s more.

James Franco’s character is based on a real-life rapper named Riff Raff who, if you haven’t heard of him, is kind of a hip hop Kenny Powers. Here’s Riff Raff’s seminal hit “Jose Canseco”.

And now here’s a picture of James Franco as Riff Raff in a car with Selena Gomez.

Do you see why we’re excited?

Here’s some leaked photos from the film via Selena Gomez’s Instagram account, courtesy of ONTD:

My nightmares induced by K-Fed’s horrific fashion sense began to sub-side and James Franco had to go on and resurrect them. It was hard enough for me to follow K-fed from his Britney trash days, to gaining a gazillion pounds, to losing some pounds, and having a litter of kids in between. I thought all of the trauma was over? What’s Franco trying to do here? Make “pretty fly for a white guy” an American staple? Sleazey chic is the cockroach of fashion, it just won’t die.
