Fox News may soon have some more angry conservatives on their hands. The Washington Examiner reports today that Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes’ right wing megaphone is hiring radio host Santita Jackson, the liberal daughter of famed civil rights activist and Democrat Jessie Jackson.
“The coup is just the latest move by Fox to staff up talkers from the left and build its rep as the nation’s ‘fair and balanced’ cable network,” writes Paul Bedard. Jackson’s alleged hiring comes a few months after Fox signed up Sally Kohn, a community organizer and gay rights activists who worked for an organization called the Center for Community Change, which received $5.8 million between 2004 and 2010 from the George Soros-backed Open Society Institute. Fox’s conservative viewers were furious.
Cliff Kincaid, a gadfly in right wing efforts to tighten their grip on Fox News, fumed over Kohn’s hire, writing, “Not only is Kohn now on Fox News, where she can demonstrate the channel’s ‘fair and balanced’ commitment by championing radical Arab and pro-Marxist causes, she is being given open access to the influential FoxNews.com website, where she writes articles praising the Occupy Wall Street movement.” He also took specific issue with her sexuality, describing Kohn as “An open lesbian who shuns feminine attire and frequently wears a suit jacket.” Other viewers vowed to boycott the cable news channel all together.
If it’s true Fox News is going to take on Santita Jackson, Ailes and Murdoch can expect some angry letters from the right wing set. The rest of us, meanwhile, will only shrug, well aware that one liberal commentator does not balanced make.
