Socialist François Hollande wins first round for French presidency with a little help from The Throne

Sometimes just having a baller campaign theme is all you need to sway favor with the public, and few songs are more baller than last year’s club anthem “Niggas in Paris” by Jay-Z and Kanye West.

In an ad campaign that would be more than a bit out of place in a US election, Socialist party member used the song for a three minute commercial that shows a montage of the politician travelling and making speeches while a slew of demographically wide-ranging French voters sing his praises (or at least that’s what it looks like; I don’t speak French). Whether or not you agree with Hollande’s politics or not, the commercial is pretty badass and makes the politician look like he’s kicking off a new revolution in France. The shots of voters holding up those carte électorale cards are particularly effective imagery.

While Hollande has beaten incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy, it is not by a high percentage—meaning the two will have to duke it out in a second round. Perhaps a new commercial showing Hollande riding down the street to “That’s My Bitch” might help push him over the top.
