Paul vs. Paul: Fight!
Ok, so maybe you find the economy boring. We don’t blame you. But in an election year with 8%-plus unemployment apparently on the verge of becoming a new norm in this country for the first time in over half a century, social security set to go bankrupt within our lifetimes, and practically everyone’s life savings teetering precariously as corporate profits reach all-time highs, you kind of have to care. And if you don’t really care, it’s at least kind of exciting.
Ron Paul and Paul Krugman are probably the two most polarizing figures when it comes to economic theory, Paul representing the extreme Libertarian view that government should get out of markets entirely, Krugman representing the extreme Keynesian view that governments must orchestrate markets in order for them to work properly and fairly.
Watching the two of them debate is something like watching Mitt Romney and Obama debate, if either of them had the balls to take their views all the way to the limit. Below is video of the first-ever Paul vs. Paul debate, broadcast last night on Bloomberg.
