Listen to two new Animal Collective songs with ‘Honeycomb/Gotham’ single

Animal Collective return with two brand new songs appearing on a new 7″ single entitled “Honeycomb/Gotham.”

The “Honeycomb / Gotham” digital bundle is available today and the physical 7″ is available to pre-order now on the Domino Store with instant MP3 downloads of both tracks. According to the label, the 7″ will be available via Dom Mart on June 26 and will be in stores later this summer.

“Honeycomb,” with booming beats and tribal poly-rhythms, features Avey Tare singing in an approximation of Prince. It’s rather odd and finds AC moving away from the usual Beach Boys territory; which, of course, Avey Tare hasn’t been so fixated on over the last few years.

On “Gotham,” another Avey Tare-dominated track, AC opt for some ’60s psychedelia, conjuring up the likes of 13th Floor Elevators and JK & Co in the process. As a result, the single is a welcome shift for the band.
