Watch the Beastie Boys’ unreleased performance on Chapelle’s Show

“Over there in the distance there’s the Statue of Liberty,” says Dave Chapelle, “And to my left… Oh shit! It’s the Beastie Boys.”

God knows why this gem never actually aired on “Chapelle’s Show,” but as tribute to fallen maestro MCA the video is making the rounds today. It was initially pulled from YouTube by Viacom for some reason, but it looks like there’s a new stream back up now. Take a look below while you still can—it’s a priceless performance.

This is the Beasties in their element—in New York City, with “Licensed to Ill” track “The New Style.” And for some reason they seem to be on a boat, like some previously unseen precursor to Lonely Island’s “I’m On A Boat” video. It was funny when Lonely Island did it, but the Beasties on a boat—you can’t front on that.
