Of course all the coverage of the new trailer for “Gangster Squad” is titled something like “Watch Ryan Gosling’s New Trailer for ‘Gangster Squad.’” You’d almost never know that Sean Penn is in it, dominating the first half of the trailer. Or Nick Nolte, looking his grisly best.

For those of you who have completely burned out on Gosling, click here. For the rest of you, take a look below at what promises to be one of the best movies of 2012. For a movie about hardened gangsters, Gosling seems to be playing against type with a soft, effete voice. And yes, he’s reprising his chemistry with Emma Sone from “Crazy Stupid Love.” “Gangster Squad” is out October 19.
