Azealia Banks is the young female rapper from Harlem who just signed to Lady Gaga’s management—a bold move for an untested artist with a few killer songs. She’s expected to take over the world with her brash delivery and effortless charm when her debut full-length finally comes out. After scrapping her much-anticipated EP “1991″ last month, we get this new track today.
“Jumanji” isn’t so much a bad song as it is an obvious tide-me-over from an artist who’s saving the good stuff for later. The production comes from the usually reliable Hudson Mohawke who put some seriously cheese-ball horns over a good 85% of the track.
Her flow is impressive as always, but it’s a bit of a surprising choice for an artist with so much on the line after her first monster tracks like “212″ and her collaboration with Diplo “Fuck Up The Fun.” Banks has some pretty big shoes to fill—her own. Hopefully she’s up to the task.
