Purity Ring are starting to gain some traction this year. Signing to 4AD and releasing their debut album “Shrines” on July 24, the group will now be setting out on a long tour throughout Europe and the U.S.
The Canadian duo make twitchy, “Violator” style synth-based music with sweet vocal melodies echoing through the Gothic landscape. Aside from the sunny single “Ungirthed,” their sound has a dark overtone that recalls The Knife’s “Silent Shout” especially with their manipulations of vocal samples, but with a modest accessibility that enters where that record exits.
On May 29, they will release a 7″ single of their song “Belispeak” which they previously put out digitally last fall.
