Highly intelligent wax human Karl Lagerfeld now has an inanimate wax double, which based on these images is almost indistinguishable from himself. Wax artist Saskia Ruth and her team created the statue for the Germany’s Panoptikum Hamberg wax museum, and boy is it detailed, from his fingerless studded black gloves and starch white collar to his perfect silver ponytail and steely pursed lips.
The statue, unveiled last week, shares a room with “a leather-clad Robbie Williams” and an “unsettlingly jovial Angela Merkel,” which sounds like amusing enough (though maybe not chic enough) company.
According to Telegraph, the statue took “almost exactly” a year to perfect. As a perfectionist, one hopes Karl would be very proud of the work.
