After the triumph that was 2009′s “Farm,” Dinosaur Jr. have announced a new record—their third since reuniting in their original lineup—”I Bet on Sky,” to be released September 18 on Jagjaguwar.

Dinosaur Jr. are an inspiration to anyone who hates the idea that things only get worse when you get old. After years of bitter disputes the band reunited in its original form for 2007′s “Beyond,” a full 19 years after their last release together. And far from a nostalgia act, Dinosaur Jr. has been making some of the best music of their careers in this late incarnation.

Not only that, but Lou Barlow’s other project, Sebadoh, began their first recording sessions in 13 years in March. We’re still anticipating what comes of those sessions. These guys are a study in protracted vitality.

Dinosaur Jr. will tour extensively in support of “I Bet on Sky.” And they’re a show well worth seeing—unlike Motley Crue, J Mascis’ wall of Marshall Stacks are all actually filled with speakers, and his blistering solos explode in a way that a record can’t quite capture. See below for dates.
