Watch Bill Murray’s induction speech into a minor league baseball Hall of Fame

Bill Murray loves baseball. He also loves golf, tequila, and all kinds of fun things. His official management title at the Charleston RiverDogs, a minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees which he co-owns, is Director of Fun. In short, Bill Murray loves life, and damn if he hasn’t always found the best ways to express it.

“I don’t understand why I’m being inducted into the hall of fame,” Murray says in his sincere speech. “I’m not going to say no—no one’s ever asked me to be in a hall of fame before.” This video may be a part of the reason, as is the one below. Murray is an absolute role model for minor league shenanigans and aging gracefully.

Getting inducted into the South Atlantic League’s hall of fame—a league in which Murray has invested in several teams prior to his current tenure with the RiverDogs—may not exactly make up for the Oscar he so deserves. But it’s a start.
