Dance-punk rockers Bloc Party are back in action this summer with a new album, ‘Four,’ and they couldn’t care less if BeyoncĂ© released a record with that title last year (albeit in numerical form). To celebrate, they’re treating fans to those new songs a little early.
Opening their Glasgow show with new song “3×3,” the band played a 17-song set featuring seven new songs their forthcoming album. Other newbies included “So He Begins to Lie,” “Real Talk,” “Octopus,” “Day Four,” “Team A,” and “Truth.” From these few fan-shot videos here, it looks like the band is back to the propulsive post-punk that made them famous, but do check out the clip of “Real Talk” which finds the band in a steady mid-tempo groove guided by Kele Okereke’s signature low-to-high vocalizations. This performance also confirms that Okereke has the best T-shirt collection ever, sporting a classic Public Enemy T (although nothing can possibly top his Rihanna/Nirvana shirt seen up there).
Check out “Real Talk” as well as “3×3″ and “Team A” below. “Four” is out August 20 on Frenchkiss.
