Another year, another World’s Ugliest Dog Competition, another adorably atrocious dog takes home the title. This year’s winner: Mugly, an 8-year-old Chinese Crested from Peterborough, England with proud posture and some seriously out of hand facial hair. Named Britain’s ugliest dog in 2005, Mugly topped 28 other world-class ugly dogs Friday for the title, a photo shoot, $1,000 and a year’s worth of dog cookies.

Below is Mugly’s competition, a group of unattractive pups with a range of gnarly features from underbites to hunchbacks to extra long, non-retractable tongues. It was clearly a close match. Better luck next year.
