What’s scarier than an earthquake? An earthquake followed by massive flooding.
That’s what scientists predict for the California coastline which they say will rise between 16 and 66 inches by the year 2100. But there’s more: CA is long overdue for a massive earthquake. Given California’s unique placement along so many faultlines, scientists also warn that there is a threat that the waters may rise an additional 39 inches if there’s a strong quake similar to 2011′s earthquake in Japan.
This would put much of Malibu, Santa Monica, and many Northern California communities such as Santa Cruz (pictured above) under a lot of water.
