If you were around in the mid-to-late 1990′s you’ll remember the familiar refrain “Girl power!,” shouted from rooftops and bandied around by youngsters and oldsters alike. It was not, as you may assume here on the internet in 2012, a rallying cry for feminism but rather that of a girl group who sang pop songs and wore silly dresses and had silly names. That probably wouldn’t happen now.
But those girls, the Spice Girls, have teamed up in public again for the first time since 2008 to premiere a new West End musical featuring their music from the same production team that brought the world ABBA’s musical in the smash-hit “Mamma Mia.”
“Mamma Mia” producer Judy Craymer asked Absolutely Fabulous comedienne Jennifer Saunders to pen the musical; “Viva Forever” opens in London on December 11th of this year.
