Wu-Tang Clan‘s world famous beatmaker The RZA will be making his directorial debut this summer with the kung fu throwback flick “The Man with the Iron Fists.”
Anyone who is even causally familiar with the Wu-Tang Clan knows that they’re martial arts fanatics. Their name is a reference to the 1981 film “Shaolin and Wu Tang” and their lyrics and album art are littered with numerous references to the kung fu, samurai and sword-slinging movies of old.
RZA in particular has been getting more and involved with the film industry in recent years, landing roles in “Funny People” and “American Gangster” as well as previously being tapped by Quentin Tarantino to write the score to his own martial arts masterpiece “Kill Bill.”
Now for “The Man with the Iron Fists,” Tarantino has pitched in to help RZA fully realize his kung fu dreams. It looks pretty fantastic in a ridiculously over-the-top kind of way. It’s hot, fast and violent — everything you want in a summertime B-movie.
