Several weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting the San Francisco-based band Future Twin at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. Compared to the staid, arty, slightly annoying avalanche of bands that have come out out of Brooklyn in the last ten years, it was nice to see a band kick the crowd in the collective huevos. Few bands know how to rock these days and Future Twin has the live voltage to pull it off in wondrous fashion.
Antonio Roman-Alcala, who is joined in the rhythm section by bassist Joe Bleak, is hands-down one of the most explosive drummers working in rock these days, and the band’s focal point, Jean Jeanie, joins St. Vincent as one of the best dynamic female vocalist/guitarists in indie rock.
The group is releasing a new 7″ entitled “Resist” as well as a “Future Twin Deluxe” which packages “Resist” with the 5-song EP/Cassette “Situation.”
Stream the new track “Lockits” below, and watch the music video for “Landslide.”
