It’s okay, you can admit it: Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” is the song of the summer. Colin Powell’s been signing it. Obama’s been singing it. Resistance is futile. You might as well just embrace it. If Dan Deacon did it, so can you.
Dan’s new record “America” comes out August 27, and apparently to get in that patriotic spirit he drops a special “Call Me Maybe” remix just in time for 4th of July. Called “Call Me Maybe Acapella 147 Times Exponentially Layered,” it sounds pretty much exactly like you’d expect: cascading layers of Jespen’s hook—all voice—devolving into a buzzing hum, with typical Dan Deacon frenetic aplomb.
