When “Compliance” was screened at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, audience members got up and left. It seems that the film’s plot, which was inspired by a real event, was too unsettling to watch. It involves a call from a man claiming to be a police officer and instructing a fast food restaurant manager to strip search a young, pretty female employee. Apparently, in the real version of events, the caller was not a cop but a serial prank caller.
The film was directed by Craig Zobel, co-founder of “Homestar Runner.”
