Bloc Party premiere new video for ‘Octopus’

Bloc Party didn’t just do a photo shoot in that loft space you see up there — they also shot the music video for their new album “Four”‘s first single “Octopus.”

In the clip we see the band rocking out the uptempo dance-punk number which rides on the usual tight rhythm section interplay between Matt Tong and Gordon Moakes with a stuttery guitar hook via Russel Lissack. Lissack also offers the song some “Thunderstruck”-style chops in break as well. Singer Kele Okereke is as feisty as ever, sporting a Basquiat T-shirt and visually very glad to be back in a rock band as opposed to the tank-topped dance-pop solo artist persona he flirted with in 2010. The video also has a bunch of hula-hooping ballerinas for some reason.

Check out “Octopus” below. “Four” will be out on Frenchkiss Records August 20.
