Afghan Whigs cover Frank Ocean ‘Lovecrimes’

Afghan Whigs unleash yet another cover—this one not from the ’70s for a change. The band has been playing Frank Ocean‘s “Lovecrimes” along their reunion tour as they get ready for their Whigs-curated ATP fest (which just moved to Manhattan) and today they release a studio recording.

It’s actually a pretty liberal reimagining—Frank Ocean’s original is pretty spartan, and the Whigs’ chunky guitars move it into harmonic territory that almost make it sound like a different song. Greg Dulli’s signature pitchy sound is actually pretty accurate here as well. Take a listen below.
