After selling out two weekends in a row last year, Goldenvoice, a subsidy of AEG Live, looks to expand their Coachella brand to other outlets. Yesterday on Coachella’s website, a cryptic message was posted that reads “Tuesday 6PM PDT,” which led to speculation by many on the internet about what it could mean.
Unnamed sources close to the Southern California based Goldenvoice Promotions say the company is going to announce a cruise that would feature the brand and could be implemented as soon as next winter. This would show Goldenvoice following many other companies off into the sunset as promoters look to cruises as a way to expand their brand.
They would join the ranks of such cruises as the Jam Cruise, the Kiss Cruise, and the HARD cruise. HARD is a Los Angeles based electronic music promotion company that was just bought by AEG’s main rival, Live Nation.
This is all coming together during speculation that Coachella might move locations due to a local Indio councilman who proposed a new amusement tax. Goldenvoice’s contract with the city of Indio looks to expire in 2013 and with the opening of the great park in Irvine, one has to speculate where the future of this festival might go if the proposed tax is passed.
So with no further ado, with invite you “Come sail away”:
