5 artists to check out at this year’s Catalpa Festival

In a battle of epic proportions Death and Taxes will be taking on the sun, the heat, potential dehydration, and about 97 food trucks worth of nachos, corndogs, tacos, funnel cakes this weekend at Battleground Randalls Island for Catalpa NYC, the self-proclaimed New York’s Music Festival. The two day event, not unlike Governor’s Ball, will be headlined by The Black Keys on Saturday the 28th and Snoop Dogg (Snoop Lion?) on Sunday the 29th. The show will also feature personal favorites Umphrey’s McGee, The Dirty Heads, troublemaker A$AP Rocky, and cubicle-worker turned club-star Girl Talk. To get everyone pumped for the weekend and to take your mind of the risk of sun poisoning, we’ve put together a top five montage of videos from the artists we’re most excited to check out this weekend.

All of the info, including what to bring, what not to bring, directions, transportation info, and how to buy tickets, can be found here. However as thorough as they were on the site, one question is still up in the air: Is this the last time we can expect to see Snoop Dogg as we know him? If it is, then I suppose seeing him perform “Doggystyle” in its entirety is a pretty good way to go out.

Felix Da Housecat “We All Wanna Be Prince”

Zola Jesus “Vessel”

Matisyahu “One Day”

City & Colour “Coming Home”

Matt & Kim “Daylight”
