Well there’s been plenty of updates and live blogging from Jason Loewenstein over the past six months but at last the first new release from Sebadoh has arrived. Yesterday, the band released a stream on Bandcamp where you can listen and purchase the five-song “Secret” EP.
This statement accompanied the release:
new songs for 2012 , a taste of our upcoming 2013 album, but, NONE of these songs will be on that album.. i repeat: NONE of these songs will be on our forthcoming/in progress 2013 LP .. this is our first new material in 14 years ( wtf! )… proceeds from this will help us continue working on the LP and remain as independent as possible.. physical copies (CD) only available at shows on our upcoming tour…
And there you have it. In addition to this being the first new Sebadoh release since 1999′s “The Sebadoh,” this is also the first new material we’ve heard from Jason Loewenstein since his 2002 solo album “At Sixes and Sevens.” This is also the first release by the group to feature drummer Bob D’Amico.
The whole EP is classic indie rock to the core but the immediate highlight is the croaky alt-country Loewenstein track “I Don’t Mind” which features warm slide guitar hook that’s to die for.
Check out the stream and buy the EP over here.
