Whoa John Darnielle, pass the Lexapro! I’m kidding, I’m kidding, but the new Moutnain Goats track “Cry for Judas,” from their forthcoming record “Transcendental Youth,” does have a seriously refreshing levity to it. Despite the Biblical title and lyrics to the contrary, the track bounces along with a happy groove and sunshine horns that sound downright optimistic.
“Transcendental Youth” is out October 2, and you can pre-order it today on the Merge site—the first 1,000 copies will receive a free 7″ with two additional songs, “Steal Smoked Fish” and “In the Shadow of the Western Hills.”
