Face it—summer’s basically over. Fall is coming. Winter will follow. Time to get depressed! Thankfully The xx are back on the scene to help nudge you along, with their new album “Coexist” slated to drop next month on Sept 11. The beautifully hopeless tones will make the perfect soundtrack to wallow into the darker seasons.
So far we’ve heard a proper stream of the subtle new track “Angels,” but the band has been playing some of the new material live, and yesterday footage began circulating of a more dancey track, “Swept Away.”
The drum-machine dance beat works well here, but Romy, Oliver, Jamie—please don’t go the way of Radiohead just yet. Please keep making songs with verses and choruses. We’ve already got our quota of blips and bleeps filled. Songs—keep the songs coming, please!
