Mitt Romney isn’t the first presidential candidate to use wealthy bundlers’ vast networks to raise insane amounts of cash from upper crust folks, but he sure is the only one who won’t reveal the identities of these bundlers.
As noted by OpenSecrets.org, “Romney has refused all calls to release information about the identities of those in his army of bundlers. We know. We’ve asked, [Read the original letter sent to Romney's campaign].”
“On March 12,” according to OpenSecrets.org, “a coalition of good government groups and transparency advocates sent a formal request to Mitt Romney’s campaign asking that he release information about his bundlers to the public. We’ve received no response.”
Romney revealed his bundlers in 2008, so why the secrecy now? Well, it probably has something to do with the veil of secrecy lowered following the Citizens United ruling. Rich people just aren’t that interested in exposing themselves to the criticism of their fellow Americans. They are quite content with manipulating American democracy from behind the scenes.
To help put the heat on Romney (though he probably will protect his cabal of wealthy donors), sign OpenSecret.org’s petition calling on the candidate to reveal the identities of his army of bundlers.
