David Lynch’s ‘Eraserhead’ soundtrack gets a vinyl reissue today

Aug 7, 2012

The soundtrack to David Lynch’s surreal experimental film “Eraserhead” is getting a deluxe vinyl reissue from Sacred Bones Records, and it is out today.

It will be released in a limited edition of 1,500 copies featuring a 16-page booklet, three 11-inch prints, a digital download, and a 7-inch single of Peter Ivers’ “In Heaven” with the previously unreleased “Pete’s Boogie.” Sacred Bones Records is celebrating the soundtrack’s reissue with an evening of music videos, short films, and a special 35mm screening of “Eraserhead” on August 16 in San Francisco at the Roxie Theater.

Anyone who has seen Lynch’s odd film will remember the various industrial hums, squelches, screams clicks and organ sounds that populate the soundtrack. Then, of course, there is the dark but beautiful David Lynch and Peters Ivers’ song “In Heaven,” which was later covered by the Pixies.
