At least they didnt evacuate Catalpa

If you wound up in Chicago last weekend for Lollapalooza it sucks to be you.

For those of us who’ve been attending festivals in the United States over the past few years, you may have smartly concluded that the United States isn’t a great place to throw outdoor music festivals.

All Points West was cancelled after New York’s unpredictable weather rained (zing!) on promoter Goldenvoice’s parade. The Coachella of New York was missing a key ingredient: Coachella’s weather. Lollapalooza was full-blown evacuated due to a night-bitch of a storm that slammed Chicago and ravaged much of the east coast the following day. You want to throw an outdoor fest in America? You better think January.

Catalpa tossed the die last weekend and came up 50-50. Thoughts of Bonnaroo ’09, which left me covered in mud all day for three days, kept me indoors through Catalpa’s rain storms, but yet a few braved the inclemency and doth profited when the clouds did part. And they got to say good-bye to Snoop Dogg.

If you bitched out from the rain, check out the photos from Nicky Digital to catch yourself up.
