Watch the copyright anti-corruption video that’s going viral

In this fictional video, a former Senator named Chris Rodd (a nod to Chris Dodd, to be sure) is appointed the new President of the AMPA (American Motion Picture Association). “I continue to stand for the protection of intellectual and artistic property rights for as long as people will listen. And they will.” What follows is a paramilitary-style raid of an IP pirate’s home.

As the producers website, Political Prostitution, states:

The U.S. government has given itself unchallenged power to shut down or block access to websites, and search engines with virtually no oversight. The failed SOPA bill attempted to limit the online freedoms of individuals and small business ventures while protecting the interests of the Motion Picture Association of America, U.S. politicians and major advertisers. Even without SOPA, the U.S. Government is making a major push to enforce its laws abroad with complete disregard for sovereignty of other nations in order to extradite so-called “criminals” to the US where they will be tried for their “crimes” in American court.

Is it anti-copyright propaganda aimed at US bill and treaties such as SOPA and TPP? Absolutely. But, every time a politician opens his or her mouth on the subject, it’s propaganda for the motion picture and recording industry. One good turn deserves another.
